The winner of the City of Gold Coast’s 2016 Christmas Lights Competition has finally been revealed.

First place in the 7News Gold Coast People’s Choice Award went to the Gill family of 5 Mintwood Place, Molendinar – even after their tree with 12,000 lights was damaged by lightning earlier this month.

Second place went to Bryan Keevers of 26 Jagera Drive in Upper Coomera, and third place went to Allan and Carol Croker of 16 Dabchick Drive in Burleigh Waters.

Acting Mayor Donna Gates said “all 12 finalists were absolute standouts though, with each of them reflecting the community’s enthusiastic Christmas spirit.”

“And it’s wonderful to see the Gill family overcame the storm damage to take out first place,” Cr Gates added.

But tours to see the Mayor’s Panel Top 12 finalists in the competition depart every evening from tonight until Saturday (Christmas Eve) – leaving the Arts Centre Gold Coast (135 Bundall Road) at 7pm every night.

Bookings are essential by visiting the City of Gold Coast website.

The other finalists in the Mayor’s top 12 were.

  • 2 Tulipwood Drive, Bonogin
  • 104 Dipper Drive, Burleigh Waters
  • 14 Worley Drive, Gilston
  • 3 Cuthero Crt, Highland Park
  • 28 Riverpark Drive, Nerang
  • 58 Salvado Drive, Pacific Pines
